couple questions in relation to invalidity pension.

If a person qualified for invalidity pension but didn't apply for qualified adult or qualified child increase can this be applied for after being granted invalidity pension? Is fis taken into account along with the spouses wage in the means test?

Am I right in thinking household benefits package can not be applied for if not having qualified adult on the invalidity payment?

You can apply for a spouse and/or child to be added to your payment at any time
If your spouse is in receipt of FIS then the spouse would have to give the FIS up in order to become your dependent
Yes you will only qualify for HBP if your spouse is your dependent

    Here's the conditions for HBP

You can also qualify for the Household Benefits Package if you meet one of the following conditions and live alone or only with excepted people (see 'Excepted people' below):
    2. You are under 66 and are getting:

    Disability Allowance
    Invalidity Pension
    Blind Pension
Incapacity Supplement or Workmen's Compensation with Disablement Pension (for at least 12 months)

    Who are EXCEPTED People:

    Excepted people are:

A qualified adult (your spouse/civil partner/cohabitant is a qualified adult if you are getting an increase for a qualified adult with your payment or you would get an increase but for the fact that they are getting a social welfare payment in their own right)
Dependent child(ren) under the age of 18 or under the age of 22 if in full-time education (a certificate from the school or college must be supplied for those aged 18 or over)
A person who is so incapacitated as to require constant care and attention for at least 12 months (medical certification may be required)
A person(s) who would qualify for the allowance in his/her own right (for example, a person getting an State Pension)
A person who is providing you or someone in your household with constant care and attention if you or that person is so incapacitated as to require constant care and attention for at least 12 months (medical certification may be required). People in employment for more than 15 hours per week or people getting Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance cannot be accepted as providing constant full-time care and attention.

If your spouse doesn't fall into any of the above categories then you shouldn't have HBP

No he is not my dependent,he gets full rate JA i get full rate DA ,I claim hbp he claims fuel allowance,i was told on here we didnt qualify ,but when rang Sligo they said send in application ,all 100% honest info.i got it 6 weeks later.there are excepted people for it ,i dont know how to copy and paste ,,but it something along lines of qualified adult or entitled to claim in own right. YOU QUALIFY.
I was also told on here we both wouldnt get full rate each ,and also by citizen advice ,but we did, there are a lot of clauses, and certain exceptions ,they are just so well hidden,

I see that now marguerite that's very interesting.
It looks as if your spouse is getting it because he would get the same amount as he's getting now as your dependent.
Thanks for that information. A lot of people have been refused in the same circumstances. Well done you for persisting!
