State Pension

    Hi,

Just looking for some info regarding state pension.

I am a company director for over 20 years, self employed before that.

I was class A PRSI for about 8 years previous to this.

I contacted revenue and they said I had about 1600 PRSI contributions, mostly as class S. I was under the impression that class S did not contribute towards state pension, but according to the lady I spoke to, it makes no odds what class it was when it comes to pension, it does for welfare etc.

Does this sound correct? I rang with the impression of trying to pay as class a for 2 years to get me over 10 years

    Thanks
