I want to pick up a new car for roughly €3500, I want something I can literally just drive into the ground, any recommendations as to what I should be looking at? Thanks

Isn't bangernomics normally high tax petrol yokes? Op is looking for a new car.

For 3 and a half grand? I think they mean buy a "new" car as in new to them, not brand new of the production line.

The op needs to clarify. Let's not assume.

Does it not say 3500 in the OP?

It does but we don't know if it's brand new or new to them they are talking about.

I don't think anything be was good the the impression you meant a new car for €3500. Don't worry about it.

How big a car do you need?

I assume you want a reliable car you can figuratively drive into the ground many years from now?

    Toyota Corolla.

With the NCT you can't really drive a €3500 car into the ground any more. Faults will have to be rectified and that will cost money.

You could reduce your budget and buy one with a long NCT and get rid of it if it fails next year and then start again.

Have a look at bangernomics to see if anything suits.

Definitely only Toyota Corolla if you want to drive it into the ground, there shouldn't be too many things going wrong with that. Just watch out for rust on the chasis and make sure you top up the oil (petrol cars). 1.4 VVTI would be cheap to tax and easy enough on petrol, too!
