Free Parking within 70km's of Dublin airport?

Hi everyone, slightly strange question perhaps so apologies if in the wrong forum.

I'm flying with Emirates business class later this year, and they offer free pickup up to 70km's from Dublin airport.

I live in Ennis so I need to drive somewhere within 70kms of the airport and leave my car (preferably free!!) there for 8-9days.

Does anyone know somewhere along the M7 near(ish) to Dublin that would be safe and of course acceptable to leave my car?

    Thanks all!

What kind of car have you? Plenty of places but the type of car makes a huge difference.

Howth harbour, your car will be covered in seagull sheite when you return but otherwise fine. Around 16k from the airport, you could tell them your at Howth Dart Station, it's a 3 minute walk.

Its a Mazda 6, I'm not sure why that matters though? You have me intrigued :)

Hmm, good suggestion, I'd just be a bit worried it would be there on it's own at night time and the shopping centre would have it towed away after a couple of days :)

City west shopping centre have a free underground car park. Luas stop nearby also if you need to catch a bus from the city centre.

Presumably - is it worth thieving or indeed 'borrowing' for a spin while you are away.

    Ah, wasn't thinking that way.

Wouldn't be leaving anything in it to be robbed, and I would've thought modern cars with alarms and immobilizers etc would be virtually immune to thieves? (i.e. I though most car thefts nowadays where done by stealing the keys)?

I don't think my car even has a key slot, it's just a key fob that just has to be near the car.

Maybe I should be thinking in terms of cheap secure parking. TBH, I could park in the airport but this might be the only time I fly business and get a pickup so I want to use it :D

There is free onstreet carpark in Swords on the old dublin road alongside the school

Yup pickup and drop from / to Dublin, (Emirates business class for reference).

Park Rite, near the airport would be €36 for 8 days, and €44 for 9 days. Although it would be nice to avail of the free pick up, I would be paying the €44 euro and have the peace of mind that my car was safe in a busy area, wouldn't be towed away, and not having to rely on a third party to pick you up.

OP, unfortunately it's time for you to stand in front of a mirror, take a good look at yourself, & slap yourself hard in the face as many times as it takes for you to come to your senses.

Airlines provide this service for passengers convenience. It's clearly anything but convenient for you. Forget about this particular perk.

Get Dublin Coach bus to Dublin from Ennis and arrange pick up in Dublin?

Can leave the car in Ennis then

Pretty sure they'll pick up from your house even if more than 70km for a fee. Might be worth checking how much it is. Although I really wouldn't bother with it.

    You could be right :D

There is another element to it, coming back into Dublin after 26 hours travel, I'd like to have as little driving as possible to do, so I was looking at getting someone else to drive the first bit for me.

That's a great idea actually! Thanks!

And thanks to everyone who's suggested stuff etc, I do appreciate all suggestions.

Not having a dig here OP, but I find it curious that you will pay for Business class (which I guess is in the thousands) but will go through this rigmaroll to avoid paying around €50 fo r parking

As above, partly about wanting to use the service, mostly that I want to cut out some of the driving when I get back. But your point is well taken.

I can actually get very cheap parking near the airport, my toll tag will let me park in the Quick Park and I 'only' have to pay 50% of the cost via BIK.

Maybe it his employer/company that's paying the fare;).

Nope, it's a once in a lifetime trip to NZ. Paying business class so I can hit the ground running once I get there. It's actually not as expensive as you'd think.

I'm pretty sure Emirates use murrayscd.ie. Emirates say its €1.75 per KM over the 70 but I'd imagine you could get it cheaper directly with the car company.

    Just get the Green Bus.

Or you could get a train to Heuston and get picked up there? Only €30 return.

Technically not supposed to leave car overnight. They've had a guy there recently handing out reminders of the parking conditions so there is a slim chance you would be clamped.

If it is a trip of a lifetime might as well pay the extra to get the Emirates car. At least it means you can have champagne etc on the flight home and you don't need to be worried about being too tired to drive.

You'll get a bus all the way to Dublin Airport from Ennis.
One of those private bus companies.
I'd say less than 20 euro's one way

    Nope.

Only option is Dublin Coach, which involves a change of buses at Red Cow, which is great unless you like facilities. It's packed most of the time and there's one little bus shelter, your fecked if it rains.

    Also costs €40 return.

Out of interest, how much to NZ business class - €2,500?

Queenstown is the best place in the world for me, but guess you are flying into Auckland?

Used it last weekend to go to the rugby. Great service.

I understand wanting the free pick up, but after paying the guts of 4 grand for Biz class, surely the cost of a train to and from Heuston is best. Especially if they drop you off and pick up at the train, and then you can drink all the alcohol you want on the way back. And if it's covered under Biz expenses even more reason to spend a little on yourself, yourself!

You will have mighty jet lag.

And your car is safe outside your door too.

    Win, win.

Hope you have a great trip.
