Booking on travel website

    ADVISE NEEDED PLEASE.
I booked a return trip to the states through Expedia.ie.
On booking it said one stop in London Gatwick on way out and one stop on the way back. It is ok on the way out however on way back it is different.
When I double checked my booking it said
USA to dublin with stop in Gatwick 2 hrs and 55 mins.
And then London Heathrow to dublin.
So I am expected to collect bags (as they don't go directly through) and make my way to Heathrow from Gatwick to check in 2 hrs before the flight leaves.(with total stop over of 2 hrs 55 mins. They said on the phone that I would have been alerted in "Red" but I didn't notice anything. I also believe that there was no noticable warning until I got the confirmation email after paying. And even so I don't think these flights should have been even offered to me. Am I wrong or is this crazy. They want €300 to change flights and say I'm at fault.
I also went to the site again to book and see if I would be alerted and the same flights are available and there are no alerts or mention of Heathrow up until you put in your card details.
Has anyone had this problem ????

It's very unlikely that you would make that connection. Your flight would have to be early or on time and you would have to get a taxi to be in with a chance of making it.

Since it's the last leg of your journey would you not just book a flight from Gatwick to Dublin? It will surely be cheaper than €300.

Why would your bags not go through directly as it's a single booking?

Thank you VG31. I have now booked flights back to dublin from Gatwick. But the point is that it shouldn't have happened and Expedia are totally walking away from it.

Expedia are saying no to that one.

Have you booked another one way ticket?
If so watch out for your baggage allowance as it will not be the same as the transatlantic route

    Thanks.
Their costumer service is very bad.
You are talking to people in India and they are excellent in avoiding blame.
They now say I must collect my bags on way over in Gatwick and re check them for US flight. Was sure my bags would go straight through.

I would send a complaint in writing demanding refund of the cost of the extra flight you had to book and if you get no joy (and the cost of that flight was significant enough), take it to the small claims court.

Be sure to take screen grabs of another mock booking showing that that Gatwick-Heathrow switch is not highlighted.
