1.     Unregistered but just got big bill..some questions.
If you have received an Irish Water bill which is higher than you expected, we can look into this for you.

Please send us a PM with the following details and we can investigate.
-          Your name;
-          Address;
-          Contact number and;
-          Confirmation that you are the account holder.

2.     Average water usage per house
The figure for domestic water usage for July 2016 258 litres per day, which is the most up to date data that is available, as our meter teams collate and process readings on a quarterly basis to track usage through our metering programme.

We are now collecting readings from over 780,000 homes, and usage in the 93% of homes without leaks has remained at an average of 250 litres over the last 18 months, with a slight seasonal variation of + / - 5% on the average. It has gone up a little in the summer and down again in the winter but within a very narrow range. The usage is not published in a specific document but is used to inform many elements of Irish Water's work.

There are no plans at present to collect consumption by industry sector. Once non-domestic customers are fully migrated to Irish Water's billing system next year, a better picture of non-domestic consumption will be available.

3.     Checking tenants have paid water charges
If you would like to send us a PM with the address of the property and your own name, we can confirm if there is someone other than yourself registered at the property. However, we can't provide the names or details of those who may be registered.

If the tenants of a property have registered their details with Irish Water, they are responsible for any bills owed for the period of time they lived at the property. We would advise that tenants contact us up to 10 days prior to their moving date so that we can update all details accordingly.

As the landlord of a domestic property, you are obliged to contact Irish Water and provide the names of your tenants and the start date of the agreement you have with your tenants, to ensure that you are not held liable for water charges should your tenants remain unregistered with us.

4.     Where can we get more information about our local water supply?
If you would like to get your water tested, you can find a list of accredited testing facilities at www.inab.ie/Directory-of-Accredited-Bodies/Laboratory-Accreditation/Testing/.

Alternatively, if your water supply from your cold kitchen tap is affected by low pressure, discolouration or malodours, we can look into this for you, if you send us the following details via PM:

- Name;
- Address; and
- Contact number.

5.     Where can I find/obtain information pertaining to careers on the Irish Water website
You can see a full list of career opportunities with Irish Water here. You can also email careers@water.ie with any queries you may have.
