WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament takes place this week, (live on WWE Network) Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m

    https://twitter.com/natkinESPN/status/819613774608859137

    http://www.wwe.com/shows/wwe-united-kingdom-championship-tournament

    20170106_UKC_PrintableBracket_CARD--e8116b6c78c438b3dff9f8e94cdb4725.jpg

The First Round of the tournament will see eight intriguing matches, including:

    Tyler Bate vs. Tucker
    Jordan Devlin vs. Danny Burch
    Trent Seven vs. H.C. Dyer
    Wolfgang vs. Tyson T-Bone
    Mark Andrews vs. Dan Moloney
    James Drake vs. Joseph Conners
    Pete Dunne vs. Roy Johnson
    Saxon Huxley vs. Sam Gradwell

So Folks will you be watching a WWE show designed for out time zone and (despite the title) featuring some very local local performers?

I wonder if they will stay true to the intention to have a weekly show on the network based on this tournament.

    2. Jordan Devlin is from Bray and is trained by Finn Balor and Paul Tracey. Tucker is from Northern Ireland and I know very little about him.

I will 100% be watching this. Pete Dunne IMO is the favourite here. Looking at Pete & MAndrews in one Semi and Jordon and Trent Seven in the other. Jordan vs Tyler Bate in round 2 has the potential to be match of the tournament.

The expectations I have for this is sky high. With the small venue it'll be interesting to see what the set up will look like.

I am intrigued by how they will get everything in. Finalists will need to work three matches the second night.

    Looking forward to this

If its does get a weekly TV show will they record it similar to NXT and tape a months worth of shows in one night in the same venue ???. Triple H will hardly be in the gorilla position for the weekly show each week

Will the WWE UK brand have house shows and tour Irish cities such as Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford etc

I would imagine it will be similar to NXT from a cost point of view.

Re touring nobody knows. And anybody that says different is full of ****. I would think its unlikely for at least a year and that of course is dependant on the tournament leading to a full time territory

    Just looking on Wikipedia.

Tyler Bate was born in 1997.

No no don't feel completely ancient at all.

But he missed out on both the Hulkamania and Attitude Era! He grew up with the "remember how great wrestling used to be?" era. Feel better? :)

    Is Tyson T-Bone a traveller?

They're billing him as king of the travellers.

Loving the presentation style so far, great building too. The absolute stench of D-lo Brown off of H.C Dyer.

Michael cole calling actual wrestling moves. Madness. Also that closeline was JBL approved.

    What happened there ?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

Well that was a mess but well done Jordan for playing it up to get some heat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

First time seeing Jordan not hugely impressed in ring but like his heel actions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,426 ✭✭✭montyrebel

    good show so far

I wonder was Devlin supposed to go over ?

Showed more charisma in 2mins at the end than Balor has shown in his entire time in NXT. And he didn't even need a chainsaw.

That dopey ref that shouts out "kick out" said something to burch and whatever he said wasn't understood.

He had a nightmare match but saved the day post match end.

Won with a flying headbutt...I don't think WWE would be okay with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

I really liked Burch. He looked great until the finish, Devlin was fine.

The king of the travellers? luther ward will have something to say about that

Putting yourself in joe's shoes as he watches at ringside you'd have to be thinking "why wasn't I in this?!"

Wolfgang can go. Best performance so far.

Can't believe he is only 29 though.

Only really know Connors from WCPW but I never noticed his ear before, did that happen from an accident in-ring or something else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,426 ✭✭✭montyrebel

he took the mick foley Halloween costume too far

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

I like Connors finisher. Simple book looks good. Bobby Roode should rob it.

I'm not getting a chance to watch tonight, was going to catch up in the morning and watch tomorrows show- how are we looking? Any standout outside of Wolfgang?

I will check out Devlin/Burch, just to see how he's looking. After that i might wait until tomorrow.

I take it back, Andrews and Maloney was good. Andrews as expected but Maloney was a good base and played the bigger man role very well.

Tyler and Tucker getting the main event should be worth a watch.
