Health tax credits - Detailed taxation from revenue. Missing invoices

    Hi,
My friend helped me claim for my tax credits on medical bills by asking a few questions. We went online on PAYE and she filled in. Im not irish myself so i an unaware how it all works. Now today i got a letter saying i need to do a detailed declaration of my expenses. I realised i dont have invoices for everything. For example dental visit i paid with money and i have no chance of getting a receipt on my visit. I got some proof by my GP on some expenses but others i could only prove by example go in on my bank and ask for statements where they can see the store i bought it in. But those stores would be example boots and so on. Can i do that?
What happens if i cant find invoices on some expenses?
    Im really worried now.
    I read about penalties.
Now i claimed for just a little over 1000 euro and that would come out at 200 tax back i guess. What if i can only prove half of it on invoice?

Also we put in for medical purchase of pills when i was ill and had fever but those we could buy without a doctor note. Did we do right by adding those in? Also if i cant prove revenue half of it can you call revenue and tell them and maybe change it up so it goes directly. I dont want to end up in trouble.
    any help would be appreciated.

You should only have claimed for GP visits, non routine dental work and prescription drugs.

You should get the actual qualifying expenses and write to Revenue saying that's all you can justify and they will look for the rest back.

Ok first of all don't panic. We are talking about €100 here so Revenue are not going to insist on a custodial sentence ;)

You should not have claimed for the non prescription meds.
For medical expenses for which you do not have a receipt just tell them that. They will accept it or they won't, it is no big deal. They send big and scary letters but generally on a one on one basis they are reasonable souls.

That is not correct. All sorts of medical expenses can be claimed, not just GP visits.

Only things from a pharmacy that's claimable is prescription medications and flu injections.

    That's the bad news.

The good news is your pharmacy can reissue all receipts they previously gave you on request. So too can your doctor and your dentist.

The dental you may have been wrong to include (only non routine dental can be claimed) but just be open and reply to revenue as soon as possible.

Yes but in the context of the OPs query these were the relevant ones.

Bit of reading OP in the link below about what you can claim. If you haven't already received a refund, then you'll only be refunded what you can prove.
