If you are struggling to get a start anywhere I know of a skip company that is hiring and they take on fresh starts as I'm one of them. The job is handy work, I my self trained in a fresh start so it's not that hard.
I found i got great driving experience from it as the places you have to get the truck into are very challenging, tight driveways, lane ways, parked cars, narrow roads, navigating building sites (sometimes in reverse) etc.
Even if it's not your thing, it's a foot in the door to gain experience.
It's what I did and now 8 months later I got a start as a tipper driver with a new company.

Pm me and I'll give you more details, I don't want to put the name public, just incase they get swamped with cv's.

Newbie myself. Started on a 26 ton plant truckand a tipper. Love the job and challenges but dublin traffic can be a nightmare. Best of luck with the new job there's plenty of work out there with decent money ATM.

Fair play. I've a truck licence these last 7 years, never used it but I still do the CPC every year just to keep the qualification. There's gonna be some shortage of drivers in the years to come. I'm 32 and always seem to be the youngest in the room, doesn't seem to be new blood coming into the industry at all.

Kind of the same my self, I'm 30 an have my licence over a year now, it took me about 6 months to try find anywhere to take me on with no experience. I'm a week into a tipper driving drop now and I'm loving it. The money seems to be gone from it as well it's 10 euro a day extra for artic drivers which is holding me back going for it.

It'd be good alright, I found it hard enough to get a job in it with the useual no experience. It's 110 a day after tax is what they pay which I know isnt good for what you do
Is the money a lot better hourly? All I ever see isome day rate

    Have the rigid since 2012
    Bus since 2013
    Artic since 2015.

The industry is going to the wall slowly.

I have some experience but i'm finding it very very difficult to get my break in the artic.

110 after tax isn't bad depending on the hrs. Shannon valley is it? I'm on 120 for 8 hrs before tax. Most days I'm averaging 12 to 13 but it's been quiet the last 2 weeks.

Build experience on rigid with a company that has both types of trucks and go from there.
