    Hi guys

Would love some advice, we have never been to Lanzarote so have no clue about the place. I was hoping to book holidays in the next couple of days for July this year. Was looking at Gloria Izaro apartments in PDC but am worried they are bit too far from all restaurants and stuff. Had a look on youtube on PDC and its looks a bit souless if that makes sense?!!!!!
Then theres the Sands in Costa Teguise which is right near everything but is the CT tiny??
The kids will be 16, 12 and 6.

Would appreciate any info - thanks.

Obviously only a personal opinion but I love PDC and would have no problem recommending it !! Plenty of lovely restaurants and lively day and night without the whole 'drink and puke' scene.

Lanzrote is a small island, it'll be pretty much the same wherever you go. Resturaunts and tat shops everywhere.

PDC is probably busier as its bigger, it's certainly not 'souless'.

Get a hire car, cheap as chips and see the sights on the island! will make a much better holiday!

Depends on what you're looking for.

Sands Beach (if that's what you mean by Sands) in Costa Teguise is great if you've young kids. It's quite and private with no loud pubs or clubs nearby (nor an abundance of tat shops), I'd take it over Puerto del Carmen. You've a 10 or 15 minute walk then into the town square.

My personal preference is Matagorda on the outskirts of PdC. I don't think I'd like to stay in PdC (I did once when I was in my early 20's), but it's nice to pop in for a few hours on the odd day or to go out at night. PdC offers a better selection of shops etc and there's a decent shopping centre between the new and old parts, but you're hardly going there to look in the same shops you'll find in your local shopping areas!

I've never stayed in CT. I hear it's nice, but quieter than PdC.

At the end of the day, a resort is a resort, there may be a bigger smaller choice of shops/restaurants between one and the other, but you're always going to find some nice ones you like with whatever cuisine you prefer, and if you've found a hotel you think you prefer, that would be my main criteria.

Just to say though, the hotel you looked at in PdC isn't in a great location at all, it's a fair slope up to that from the seafront... You will find hotels of a similar standard in much better locations in the resort.

+1 for Matagorda. Family area at the end of PDC strip. Walking distance to the bar and restaurant scene.

We went for a couple's holiday last November just after the Halloween break to Costa teguise, have to say getting around was a doddle, very good bus services especially to PDC easy enough terrain around CT, PDC felt like more buzz but also too much neon lights if ya get me?
We stayed in sands beach resort, excellent for families that want swimming and sun lounging, had some watersports too like SUP windsurfing snorkelling kayaking etc. It's about a 15min walk to Plaza Tenerife which is the main strip in CT, lots of nice restaurants and bars.
I usually like to be independent of my own transport but I never felt I needed to hire a car here.

Thanks for all the replies everyone - I'm still searching, we are a bit restricted that we need a 2 bed apartment.

I was thinking that about the resort in PdC - did a google maps tour to the beach and its looks like a fair trek back up to the hotel

Taxis are very cheap and plentiful, I would t let the hotel distance put you off, the place Ian that big, if you tell us the name of the hotel you are considering maybe someone will know where it is and could offer advice !!

I am thinking we might go with the Sands Resort just as it looks so relaxed and easy going, I think I am overthinking this decision and just need to pick somewhere!! - would you recommend getting an apartment with pool or sea view? thanks a mill
