    I have this one:
    http://www.halfords.ie/motoring/bulbs-blades-batteries/car-battery-chargers/ring-rcbt27-pro-27a-battery-charger-12v-24v

Never tested it on anything else that my small (1600cc) diesel car.
One of the review says it started a Aston Martin DB9 so that should have you covered.

Note that it needs a main AC connection, it's not a portable one with his own battery.

If you only use the car now and then buy a solar trickle charger. Basically hook it up to the battery, run the leads into the car and leave the solar panel on the dash so it gets a constant trickle charge during daylight. I have one I bought on eBay about 7 years ago and t keeps my ride on mower charged from October to May so that it starts first turn of the key each year.

This is the one I have. eBay

If you want a serious jump starter, drop into Europower in Dublin (or Glasnevin) industrial estate.
But you might be better off with a 'maintenance' battery charger that you leave permanently connected. Ring Automotive have a nice range. Avoid at all costs the 20 euro one from Lidlaldi, it's crap.

i have a battery charger also the car is the up in a barn so no mains near it. ideally looking for a decent pack as it wont be useds for just the car but also other things around the place. only said my battery because it would be the highest power needed

I'd get a Li-ion jump pack. They come in various outputs.

I bought a Machine Mart one as I needed one that day (2nd Jan) and they were nearby (was in Glasgow) - dozy here left the interior lights on the car for over 24h on a 1.4 Honda. Rated 200A (peak 400A) the car was just clicking the starter relay. Pack attached and started as per normal.

There are plenty that have a peak 600A, around the 70 Sterling mark.

At the top end of the scale is around 1000A peak, 12/24V things that will start trucks no bother. Weighs less that 2kg, but they cost £200+

    Voodoo magic so they are.

Was considering a jump start myself but saw so many different reviews of the many different brands. most brands were either 5 star brilliant or 1 star useless. I had not seen this particular brand before and cannot get a review on it. Have you used this brand over an extended period. Thanks

I have two. My brother has the original and he's successfully jumped an S3 a number of times. Its small, very portable and you can use it to charge your phone. We generally keep them in the boot but take them out to charge a phone everyone once in a while to cycle them.

I have the V2, great product. Biggest I've jumped was a Landcruiser diesel, but it was a hard jump (No battery at all, cold etc)

There's a li ion charger in aldi or lidl now or soon isn't there? Better warranty/return than you'll get from eBay etc

That's a colossal peak load

Generally petrols are a lot easier to swing then diesels due to less compression.
3.0 6 cyl won't be hard to turn over. especially a twin turbo probably lower compression than a NA engine.

yeah i know that. i think my problem is im so skeptical of of these new small jump packs. and then i read the reviews and complaints about it not jumping certain size cars and issues with them etc. its just making more difficult than it should be

Buy it online from a shop with a decent reputation, if it doesn't work then just return it as not suitable for purpose.
    I wouldn't overthink it.

Buy a new battery now, keep it charged up and use it to jump start the car. When summer comes switch out the old for the new.
This means you have an ideal solution at no extra cost.

I bought one of these li-ion packs. 600a peak for €50 delivered from China. It was very highly rated but I was still sceptical.

Anyway it EASILY started a fully dead (no dash lights) Landcruiser 4.0 V6.

Very handy as it can be charged via the cigarette socket. Has USB etc.

Just a note on LI-ION, I'd stand back when you start the car. The explosive energy is not to be underestimated, its basically a small pack of C4.
