thinking of buying a car in the UK, whose the best company to get the "HPI" type report from?

I've no allegiance to using the Irish options, or the UK options, just which ever is best, I'll be checking out 2 or maybe 3 cars

Motorcheck shows mileage readings, most others don't.... call or email them and they'll give you a discount

I'd cut out the middleman and go straight to HPI.

Don't forget to look under the car for rust, no company will tell you whether it's rotten or not.

    Does HPI do insurance?

    Taken from hpi.com:

"HPI uses cutting edge technology to ensure you get accurate and up-to-date information. We are so confident in the accuracy of our data that we back it with a £30,000 guarantee."

Sorry meant car insurance reports on whether it's an insurance right off. They all offer insurance on their reports.

No but a cursory inspection will.

Thanks, I'll be getting AA to do a mechanical check on the car, done a HPI check, and the car still has finance on it, but I guess it's only dealer finance, but it's something I'll be raising before I get the AA to look at the car

For a start, you can enter the car's reg into this website to see the history of the past MOTs: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history.

It's far from a full check, but if you have a list of cars in mind, it's a good, free place to start.

fortunately, the car I'm looking at isn't over a year old, so no MOT yet :-)
    But good to know!

Make sure it's over 6 months and had at least 6k km on the clock.

not going off topic, but its one or the other from what I've read, not both.

anyhow, it's over 6 months, and 6K km
