Short to medium term investment funds

Does anyone know of banks or institutions that have investment funds where you can put a lump sum but not get screwed over if you need to access the money in the short term. I think I have seen a Standard Life investment fund that boasts about the option to access your money at any time, but in reality you basically get screwed if you do so within the first few years or else you're limited to taking back something like 5% at a time.

Right or wrong, I have no interest in investing the money directly myself in shares etc. and am aware of management fees involved in funds offered by the likes of Irish Life and so on. It's just I thought I came across something before about some new funds being offered by some company or bank where there was the option to cash out at any point without any huge penalty.

Honestly by the sound of it what you need is a DeGiro account and buying ETF funds (which are funds traded as shares so you can sell them at any time without any penalty and invest any amount you wish).

That DeGiro crowd are very interesting alright - the only catch is that I have 'bad history' when it comes to buying/selling shares directly and really would prefer to pay someone else (i.e. bank/institution etc.) to do this. Granted, it'll come at a cost and there's no guarantee that I won't lose money, but at least I'd have someone else to moan about and blame at the end of the day if things go bad.

That said, I still can't believe the charges of DeGiro - could really shake things up a bit with the likes of PP, Davy's etc.
