You say slowly but surely bit to most of us you're flying. Some great little fixes like the safety switch going into to this to make it interesting. Anything else planned?

Thks bud, might do something with the roll bar to make a bit more room for the levelling bar, possibly bring bottom half up from axle outside the wings and sandwich top of wing between top and bottom halves of roll bar. Other than that, just do her up like new

Got a bit done over last few evenings, new diff bearings fitted and pinion re installed in casing. New outer oil seal, lift arm stub and diff lock selector arm fitted to rhs trumpet and bolted back up to centre casing with new gasket. Starting to resemble a tractor again :unsure:

Next job is to fit new half shaft seals, I am using a newer pair of halfshafts with the nut rather than the sweated on collar to retain bearing that came with the donor back end. Going to spin them in lathe to clean up the seal surface as they are slightly marked.
Hit a snag when I just noticed I have received the incorrect half shaft seals:blushing::blushing::blushing: aaarrrggghhh, hope NC tractor can post them tomorrow so I'll have them for weekend.

Went to install diff and other trumpet and fell victim to Agriline ****e Chinese bearings again, new diff bearing was supposed to measure 30.4 mm thick, is actually 32.6 meaning I'd need to shim with about 2.6 mm gaskets, lesson learned for the last time!! Timken on order and Chinese crap going back to agriline !!

Well lads, I haven't posted in a while so a little update. Still working my way through the sanding, cleaning and priming, got the main casing done, then assembled the back end with new halfshaft bearings and seals all round. Shimming the shafts was a pain as the old shims were not exactly right because I fitted newer shafts with the locknut rather than the shrink collar bearing retainer. Got them from the doner back end. The last owner of that one must have used a sledge hammer to install the shafts one time or decided to do a Basil Fawlty on them as they were hammered and dented badly on the face they shows through the wheel centre. I put them on a lathe and faced off a couple of mm and it made them look like brand new again. Well worth doing.

Stared into the front axle, same story, stub shaft spindles are badly worn, I have a new bush and bearing kit and new spindles are cheap enough but I kind of want to keep the originals so I'll build up the shafts with the mig and turn them down on the lathe. Torture trying to remove the bolts holding axle together, heat and sledge deployed 😊😊😊

Steering box stripped and cleaned and ready for re assembly with new top bearing kit and all seals. Hoping to have it primed this weekend.

Got a good bit of progress made this evening, steering box fully done with new seals and bearing sets, no play and smooth as anything now, well worth doing. Next is to put back hydraulic pump and then tackle into the lift cover, and that will be more torture, I can tell 😊😊😊

Been a while since I posted, slow progress but got some blue on most parts now before assembly as each one is cleaned. Plan is to rub down and re coat it all again when it's all assembled.

    Fantastic! More pictures please!
Did you use an old nose cone or go for one of those fibreglass reproductions?
Every metal one you see rots at the sides...

That looks brilliant, well done. Progress is always slower than you'd expect but worth it when you see it finished.

Thks lads, loads of photos but took an hour to figure out how to load that last night, can’t find an easy way since photobucket screwed everyone. Anyone know an easy way on an iPad?

What a cracking project, that's some love and care going into restoring her! -- As for the photos,

Click the "Go advanced" button rather than the basic "Post a reply"
when you upload the photo using the paperclip but before you close the pop-up window, right click and select "Copy Link address".
Then, close the popup window and use the "insert image" button and copy in the link you just saved/copied.

When you "Submit Reply" you should see the image you want in the reply plus the image should be saved as a link
