New Monitor recommendations?

Need a new monitor for gaming pretty much only for gaming.

System:
i7 5960X 16Gb DDR4 Nvidia 1080

Current monitor is a 24" Samsung 1920/1080.

Would like a 4k monitor with G Sync, had my heart set on the Acer Predator but its not dropping in price fast enough.

Budget of €500.

You would be doing well to get a G Sync for that price. You should sell the 1080 once the new Vega GPU's are released and get a freesync monitor to go with it.

And yes you would get a 4K Freesync monitor for that price.

TBH a 1440p/144Hz monitor might be better for gaming.

or pick up the Dell gsync model...comes in around €600 in certain weeks when offers are on and its a great monitor.
Its at £599 atm but I got it a few months ago for around the £520.

vega is rumoured to be released around May and I hope it will match Nvidia's flagship as that could help drive down g-sync monitors a good deal. Why pay the bones of €1600 for a nvidia gpu and g-sync monitor when for €1000 you could get Vega and a freesync one. I bought mine for €220 and its an excellent monitor. Haven't tested freesync as I run a nvidia gtx 780 but if its as good as freesync.
However there are rumours there's a new version of freesync coming out which wouldn't be backwards compatible. ie your vega card wouldn't run freesync v2 on a v1 monitor etc
Also freesync2 monitors are going to be more expensive

FreeSync2 isn't a rumour, it's confirmed.

And it's essentially AMD's ploy to be the market leader in HDR display technology.
