Can anyone recommend a kit that would allow bluetooth streaming of music on a 2007 avensis? Ideally would like to still be able to control it using steering wheel controls and would automatically connect with phone audio whenever I get in car so all I have to do is hit play.

Not up to date on head units but I used to use a parrot mki9200 and it was fantastic , can't fault it
You could also get a new radio unit with Bluetooth

Thanks. Had looked at the Parrot and functionality was good but price was a little higher than I wanted. With my dash cam already leaving a lead trailing all around the car I definitely do not want something that has 3 or 4 more.

Bluetooth radio makes way more sense seeing as it has pretty much same functionality as Parrot and is cheaper. The current original stereo is also just taking up space so will remove it and install aftermarket bluetooth Pioneer. http://www.halfords.ie/technology/car-audio/car-stereos/pioneer-mvh-390bt-bluetooth-car-stereo

Briefly flirted with the idea of a double DIN touchscreen with android auto (navigation, calling, music, voice queries while driving) but price is way up there and it hasn't quite matured just yet.

for the parrot the cables are in the glovebox..I used to keep an ipod hooked up in there but stuck then with the bluetooth streaming.

I put in a Parrot mki9200 into my 2007 Avensis and you can't see any cables, the remote control can be fixed to the steering wheel as well, there's a very handy connection in the glove box as well which allows you connect USB or AUX or iPod for playing music. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. I tried another device in it as well, can't remember the name of it but it was a disaster.
