PS4 Pro - worth it without 4K TV

Basically I have the PS4, but it's the limited edition MGSV one and I don't really want to keep using it, because I'm quite afraid something will happen to it.

GameStop have a sale on atm where you can get the PS4 or PS4 Pro with 2 free games; the games are a bit toss, but your man told me he can trade them instantly against the machine, basically making the PS4 Slim €220 and the Pro €320. I have a GameStop card for extra on top of all trade ins so it should make the consoles even 200 and 300 respectively.

What I'm wondering is would it behoove me to spend the extra 100 or so for the PS4 Pro because I haven't got a 4K set or an intention to buy one, since I just bought my TV about 2 years ago, for €759 and it seems wasteful to go pay about the same again for a 4K. I know PS4 Pro can boost your frame rate and make it a bit more visually appealing even at 1080p, but does it have any other features going for it that justify the €100? I'll get a 4K TV in a few years maybe and perhaps that's enough of a reason to buy one..? I'm also assuming that sometime this year Sony will show off a PSVR that doesn't need the processing box cos PS4 Pro can do without which would be cool cos I'd pick up that then too if the price reduced a bit. Hmm. Not sure? Any ideas?

So basically they are offering you 80euro for your PS4 and 100euro with the card? And you are actually considering trading in to gamestop?...

Sell PS4 on adverts or some local Facebook page then buy PS Pro elsewhere if there's better bundles, if you are dealing with gamestop for trade ins then your doing everything wrong. .

Try CEX for trade in on your console too they probably give you more cash..

That's fairly tempting tbh. Wonder would my local Gamestop let me do the same :)

300ish for a pro is the right price point for me.

EDIT: just looked up the games you can get for free with the deal. Seems to be any two of: Destiny, Battleborn and Starwars Battlefront.

No way in hell would Gamestop give €80 trade in value for any combination of two of those games.

Well, the way the OP originally explained it: you were buying Pro for €400 with two free games, you were trading in the games straight away for €80 credit so the actual cost was €320.

That would be tempting but i find it hard to believe that Gamestop would give €80 credit for any two games, including newly released stuff.

Was he not saying he was getting 80euro credit for his PS4?

On the website it says nothing about 2 free games with the Pro

There's more than those, and one or two are worth €40 credit. :)

??? I literally said I want to stop using the limited edition console why does that translate to I want to sell it?

Well if you not going to use does that not mean you want to trade it in?

No. I don't want to use it because I want it to go in the collectors cabinet with my other limited edition consoles.

I'm running a PS4 Pro on a "normal" 1080p TV mainly, only certain games you can really see the difference if the game is optimised for the Pro, Battlefield 1 is mainly where I see it as it's what I would mainly play at the moment on it....

I have a 4K TV in the kitchen but only play on that possibly once every 2 weeks or so....

I would get a Pro purely for future proofing myself if possible, it's not a biggy though if you don't get one...
