Alcantara repair

    Hi folks,

My E46 has run into a fairly common problem (I think), the drivers seat bolster's Alcantara is starting to tear.

For now it's not a huge tear but it's only going to get worse since it's part of the seat you can't really avoid contact with when getting in and out.

Is there anywhere in the Kilkenny/Waterford area that would be able to patch it up? Or is it possible to buy some Alcantara myself and have it patched up?

possible to swap the seats to stop it?

Dropped into them earlier, they're quoting €180 for 3 panels of Alcantara on the bolster. Is this reasonable? I have no idea what anything like this would cost.

Very reasonable. You're not only paying for the replacement fabric panels and labour, you're also paying for their experience and expertise.

I would think that's reasonable too, definitely one of the best if not the best in the country.

They did a fantastic job on a spare sport seat I have for my E36 3 series, seat was leather but the job was perfect.

Well I'm convinced. I'm to go back next week, I'll try to do some before and after pics!

    I second this.

and last time I had a look that alacantara material is not the cheapest either. To the degree that I sourced a whole seat cover top and bottom for future reference for far less than the cost of a small square of the stuff(I can use the back from the top part as a donor for bolster material as a match). Good to hear there is a pro outfit like A&T Autostyle, as I've seen a couple of "repairs" done locally that were a bit crap TBH. Really obvious.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

AT Autostyle also re-cover steering wheels. I got my one done in Nappa leather with the motorsport stitching, I think it was €120 or it might have been a little bit more as I wanted them to thicken the padding to bulk out the wheel.

I dug out a pic of the bolster repair they did on the seat (right side of driver's seat). I didn't leave the seat in the car as it happens. I'll probably send the other sport seat along with the rear set up to them this summer.

Here I am 3 weeks later! Other things came up as they do and I only got round to this today.

Fantastic job on the seat, looks brand new (Even if my pictures don't reflect that! Excuse the mess :D). I'll more than likely be back for the steering wheel too now.
