Car Registration for Import

    Hello,

    I would like to import a classic car from Germany.
    The problem is that the registration plate is taken off the car in Germany if a car was sold.

    They have some system over there where you can get a temporary reg, which is useless to me as I have no address in Germany.
    Even if the current owner puts this type of plate onto it, I am not allowed to drive it, as only the applicant can do so.

    Is there any similar type of registration plate I can apply for here in Ireland to get the car into the country?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    I think there is a temporary registration thing but its used for people who wish to temporarily reside here and have the car registered here. I'm guessing the process takes the same length of time as VRTing the car. If you register the car now for VRT its possible to get an appointment within a day or so.

    Do you mean drive it in Germany? If its just to drive here in Ireland then any old number will do as you will be registering it here.
