Best place to buy a second hand tyre?

I need to get my car through the NCT and my back axel failed because there is one winter and one summer tyre.

I know people will say do not to get second hand and buy new but I need to keep my expenses down as it is not worth putting the money back into the car because of its value.

I was onto Tyreland 2 days ago and they were supposed to get a summer tyre in by yesterday but failed to do so. They quoted me 40 euro with fitting. I even explained that it is needed for my NCT but they failed to call me back like they said.

    Any suggestions would be great.

Do you have a regular size spare tyre at all? If so you could put that on.

    Otherwise

Can you just put your spare wheel on if it's a full sized one?

I'm driving a death trap (exaggeration intended) - but I am not going to fix it properly because of its value... With that kind of attitude no wonder the insurance market is closing for older cars.

Just do it properly and enjoy safe motoring.

    Let's stick to recommendations.
There is no need to assume car is by any means a death trap (I actually know what car it is from previous posts by OP but will let him mention it)

There's a crowd behind LIDL in Bray that do second hand tyres as well. They are fairly reasonable people, I had them fix punctures / rims for me a couple of times.

What size are you looking for? and where abouts are you based, I can recommend somewhere close to you.

Breakers yard, and get a complete wheel from your model of car. Usually cheaper than a buying an imported s/h tyre, and get one with !ot's of thread.
    Extra spare is always handy.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys got sorted through Tyreland. They even fixed a slow puncture on one of my tires for free. Will give the place near Lidl a bash next time.
