I agree with that's an expression, not a word. There is already a thread for expressions you hate.

    Taoiseach

Brendan O'Connor pronounces it T-SHOCK. Sounds like something your could get hammered on quite quickly.

'Tasty'. When someone says it, I can't even look at them. It's not right or logical, I know it's irrational.

"Troubadour", usually used to describe singer-songwriters of dreary mushy songs who should have been left alone by record labels while they were still a busker, so that they'd eventually get the hint and get a regular job like us ordinary suckers.

It's a loan word from Hindi, where it means something from Bengal. It came to be used as a shorthand for houses in the Bengal style. Hindi is a lot further from English than most sources of loan words, which is probably why it seems so alien.

I thought it was an Irish word. Two lads building a house ran out of bricks half way through, and one of them said ah, it'll be grand, we'll just bung a low roof on it.

If you ever wore a pair of briefs and your left bollix fell out and as you are sitting there you feel it against the chair with just a bare sheet of fabric from your trousers between it and the chair you may change your mind...
