I am going to buy one of these two cars ,a Honda jazz new model available since early 2016 or a Hyundai ix20 around for a while.
I have no experience of either .They are both similar price on a scrappage deal.4000 euro off Hyundai and 3000 off Honda. They are both spacious and similar specs.
Anyone any personal experience of either ,if so any issues or recommendations as to which is the best buy in the long run.

I looked at both and the Nissan note and would consider the Jazz the best of the three , It felt a better finished car all round. I nearly bought it but was just slightly out of our budget.
    €3000 scrappage but 6.9 apr.

Buy the jazz! Petrol hondas are absolutely bullet proof! Great spec & quite roomy for a small car!

Thanks for that info ,yes personally I think the Honda has a better finish though engine is good it's seems slow on acceleration. The scrappage works for me as fortunatly I won't have to do a PCP

honda jazz a no brainer, patman.its a very deceptive car as space inside is ample although it would be in super mini class.father in law has one for 6 years and it just needs oil and filter at standard service usually-bombproof as regards reliability and longevity.also are in demand 2nd hand and get excellent trade in money.

Thanks finalfurlong , reliability and longevity are the perfect characteristics for any car .If your father-in-law is happy with it then that's a very persuasive reason for us to choose the Honda. On a test drive today I saw the delivery tags made in Japan on the car ,in my book thats almost a guarantee in itself.

Honda engines have to be worked a bit harder to make them move. Wait until you're higher in the revs before you shift gear.

I am on my second Jazz and the only reason for that is that i moved countries. My mum still has my first jazz, going on 10yrs now and it has not needed any work done. My jazz that I have here in Ireland is actually a Fit (jap import) and I've only had the usual wear and tear that you would expect. They are a brilliant car and the interior is so flexible. I once had to buy an interior door and was able to to fit in the jazz no problem at all. When this car gives up the ghost (06 model, hope to get another 3 - 4yrs) I'd definitely get another one again if I go for a petrol car. Apparently the parts can be a bit more expensive though.

Thanks for your advice and personal feedback Mel .Both cars seem to have great space but the Jazz is definitely more versatile by all accounts.Glad to hear both yourself and your mum had such good experience with the car it's very helpful in our decision making.Car dealers are very persuasive but there's no substitute for someone elses hands on and personal opinion. Thanks

Having often searched boards.ie for information and opinions it's useful when there's a conclusion to the post. With that in mind and as a courtesy to all who contributed I would like to let you know that we put a deposit on a new Honda jazz ES version in Milano red .17000 Euro with a scrappage deal on my old 98 Ford Escort Ghia Estate.(Must be the last one still running)
Bought it in Cranley Cars ,descent bunch.

    Thanks for all the advice.

Well wear and best of luck with it. The definition of reliability.

I think €17k for a new Jazz is decent value...my ma has had several Civics and while they're a grand or two more than the competition it's money well spent in my opinion. They are a notch above in terms of reliability and quality.

You'd see most of that back come trade in time. I remember my missus selling a 6 year old 206 for €3k
