Does RTE increase the sound during ad breaks?.
    Am I imagining this?.

I thought the same, especially over the Christmas. I thought it was the start of the end for our TV though...,,

Most stations do this. RTÉ isn't actually the worst culprit either. Tv3 are terrible for it and so are the satellite channels from the uk. Got rid of the tv about a year ago and haven't looked back but when I did have it, I had an auto reflex to press mute on the remote as soon as the ad breaks started.

I have noticed to too over a range of channels. The above link was the 1st one I found but I'm sure it's done a lot.

As it does with all TVs, try changing the music setting in the settings, adverts use music settings and these tend to be set higher by tv manufacturers.

As an aside, did you go cold turkey and just fcuk the tv out or did you wean yourself off it. What hobbies did you take up and has your homelife improved?
    Curious.Thanks.

Apparently it's a marketing ploy, the sudden change in noise levels are a bid to catch your attention so you'll be sucked in by whatever's being advertised.

Rte 2 has the most obnoxious transition to ads i have ever seen, that high pitched buzzing sound they use is hideous.

This could be nonsense but I was told before that this happened because most people leave the room during ad breaks. As in if you go out to the kitchen you can still be targeted by the ad companies
