    http://www.leparisien.fr/environnement/alimentation/grippe-aviaire-abattage-massif-de-canards-d-elevage-dans-le-sud-ouest-04-01-2017-6525150.php#xtor=AD-1481423553

Reported now - hundreds of thousands of open-air-raised ducks have been slaughtered in the Gers, Landes and Hautes-Pyrénées regions as a precaution against bird flu.
«Nous sommes face à une diffusion très large du virus qui est très agressif et très rapide», a indiqué un haut responsable du ministère, selon lequel «plus de 300.000 oiseaux» ont déjà été abattus dans le sud-ouest, mais jusqu'à présent uniquement dans des élevages infectés.

Hens, guinea-fowl and ducks raised indoors were not slaughtered.

89 outbreaks of avian flu so far have been detected in France, mostly in the southwest, and five outbreaks in wild birds. According to the report, other countries are also slaughtering birds in huge numbers, notably South Korea and Japan.
