Either way the boiler has to be set up and commissioned with a flue gas analyser to get any kind of efficiency.they normally come overaired before commissioning. The boiler output can be set up to suit the house.

the reading in previous post is for standard efficiency boiler.if your buying a grant vortex or grant euroflame he, all the set up readings will be in the manual

Yes it a grant vortex I got fitted

The plumper said he can't set it.

Should I get this done? It's heating really well tho. Just wanted to know what it's set to, he thought it would be 90

    So is it around 110?

Not all plumbers commission their own work. You need to get the boiler commisioned. How big is your house and how many rads do u have?

It's a 2600sq foot house 2 story 16 rads there heating up really well should I get it done? or would the setting its on be ok will it still do some kind off condensing ?

One thing I see is the boiler seems to be coming on a lot and off again. Is there any way to know if it's condensing

Yes get it done. You've spent thousands getting the best Boiler on the market installed. Why half arse it now?
A 50/90 would've been big enough for your house.
Get your boiler commisioned and set to 90. Coming on and off means your boiler is short cycling which means it's oversized and not working efficiently. Oversizing a condensing boiler is the biggest mistake installers make these days. Gone are the days when " Jaysus put in a boiler way bigger than ya need, better safe than sorry "

Commissioning is also to validate/ activate the guarantee on the boiler.
Page one of the cert (called a passport) has to be returned to the manufacturers.
Passport came with the boiler, read it.
Warrante may be invalidated without it.

I agree with DPTs suggestion to re tune it back to 90,000BTU

So as the guy that fitted the boiler can't commisioned it dose this mean the warrante is void?

Or can Who ever I get to commision it fill it in after?

Some plumbers can commision if they have the equipment, some don't.

Ring GRANT and they will give you the name of a local service engineer, you'll need one for routine servicing anyway.
Or post your area and one of us might be able to help .

Sorry OP, I post that particular manual, as you didn't indicate it was a Vortex, and as you were quoting 90/120 (BTUs) I assumed it was an older appliance, new appliances are quoted usually in Kw.

Same manual rule applies, the highlighted or Asterix indicates what it comes as factory set.

So it comes set at the lowest setting.

If I got it brought up to around 110 would there be more heat in the rads?

I know "Dtp1979" said to put it to 90 but would this not be less heat in the rads?

If you oversize it it will not condense and it will be less efficient

Ok thanks il get someone to set it for me

I find its staying on very long not cutting out much. When it dose cut out its back on with in a minute or two.

Would I have the temperature up to far? Or is this normal

It could be the pump setting, balancing. It's hard to diagnose on here tbh

Is this a remote acting fire valve?

Was chatting to someone who is going to set it for me, but before they can do the passport book there needs to be a remote acting fire valve fitted

Is this one or an base one?

    Yes it's a remote version.

Preferable it's ment to be located externally (see GRANT book)
But I wouldn't shoot you over it.
Once supply pipe is metal rather than plastic, which I have often seen. :(

Sometimes it's not feasible to locate it externally with sensor over boiler.
All steps towards safety are better than none in my book.

Set it to the lowest. See how the rads are. If you want them hotter, turn it up
