    Hi,

I was just wondering is the council of each county responsible for dealing with rubbish and litter on motorways within that county?

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (formerly, National Roads Authority I think) usually contract out the management of motorways and other major roads.
I know in Cork it's done by Egis Lagan Services

And for the PPP sections, it's done by the PPP concessionaire for that particular section (and in some instances other sections of road that they took over as part of the PPP contract, for example BAM who got the M11 Arklow-Rathnew contract now do the Arklow BP and Gorey BP sections too).

Ultimately, Society is responsible for rubbish and litter on the motorways, cleaning up is the aftermath, its too late then. People should take pride in their country, it's not hard to bring an empty drink bottle or wrappers home.

Ah but its only a bottle... thats great until the lawnmower that keeps the verges maintained and tidy shreds the thing into millions of little pieces all over the place as it was hidden away in the long grass.

If we can't get the basics right as a nation what does that say about us?
