Hiring Interior Designer

    Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help with this.

Is there such thing as an interior designer to give me ideas for my house, but then leave me to act on their ideas as, and when I have the money?

I'm at the stage where I'm afraid to buy anything in case it won't go with the room and will end up being a waste.

    Many thanks

Yeah I did something similar when I was househunting last year. Cost €300 for 2 housecalls (about 2 hours each time). Went through the house first time, she went away and came up with some ideas. 2nd visit she came with loads of samples for carpets/blinds etc, and pictures of furniture. We ended up buying some stuff through her, and other stuff we just bought cheaper lookalikes elsewhere.

    Hi,
I am an interior architect graduate, with plenty of experience in home decor and space planning. I'm passionate that interior design should be person-centered and unique to how we live within a space.
I understand how daunting it can be when faced with such expensive decisions and I would love to assist you on any aspect that you would require. If you would like you could pm me for a chat

    Hello,

Have recently bought an apartment in South Dublin. Would love a once off consultation with an interior designer. Just have them walk through the place and give a bit of advice such as " if you painted that wall blue or put a round table in there" I have contacted a few places and prices are ridiculous! 600 euro for 2 hours!! I just don't have the money! Am not looking for precise details just general ideas.

If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. Budget 300 approx.

    Thanks so much

That is a shocking price. How can they justify that

I think that quote is quite reasonable - they're trained, experienced professionals (often qualified architects and designers). Even if the consultation is only two hours long, usually the recommendations come afterwards - presented in a series of mood boards or plans. These take time, and they're entitled to charge for it. Most of the quotes I've received for a consultation and layout plan have been around the €1500-2500 mark.

If the place is asking for €600 for 2 hours, odds are they're not for regular homes, and will recommend you expensive designs. Find one that is more reasonable (€300 for 2 hours), or go to Next and use their €75 home consultation
