    Hi guys,

Stupidly let the oil tank run dry so now it won't fire up once refilled.

Could one of you kind people point out where the bleed nut is on the attached photos?

    Cheers

    Hi,

That thing that looks like a elongated screw on the 2nd photo is a self bleed valve I think. Have you reset the burner by using the red button?

Yeah, tried that. When I removed the covering there actually was some a small bit of oil on the ground.

When you say self bleed, does that mean the reset button should do the bleed itself or do I still need to loosen that valve? Could it take a few resets?

Sorry for sounding like an idiot, no clue about this sort of stuff.

With a 4 mm allen key loosen the screw in the picture circled.when loosened press the reset button on the burner. You should see air come out, when the oil comes, close screw with the 4mm allen key.you can try this 2 or 3 times max.after that you will need a suction pump to pull the oil through

Open up the bleed valve and hopefully oil and air will come out, this is with burner off, so to speak. If no oil come out, keep valve open, hit the reset button and burner will start to run, as it cylcles through, you should see oil spurt out and she may even fire. If she fires close bleed valve and your'e done and dusted. If not you may need to repeat the process, valve open, hit reset etc.

Thought as much.I just opened that allen bolt and left oil run through for a few seconds then closed it,hit the reset button and fired it up.Repeat if you dont have any luck.

    Well done,
Just on another note, from your picture there is no sign of a firevalve.you should have a remote acting fire valve on the 10mm copper pipe feeding the boiler, about a metre from the boiler. If it is not there you should get one fitted asap.it would look something like this.
