Have two Ariva 120 but tele's now has saorview tuners so was thinking of getting a satellite tuner, preferable with freesat and with usb 'reliable' recording ability (unlike the ariva 120)

The same basic functionality of the ariva 120 is fine.

Anything around the €100 mark out there.

Is the Humax 1000 designed for reliable usb recording.

The HB-1000S? Well, at least (I assume) recordings would be set from the Freesat EPG, rather than timers.

Have no experience of the box myself.

The hb1000 records through epg, to hdd not to usb stick. I use hb1000 with 500gb hdd, recordings haven't failed yet. The hb1000 only has 1 tuner, so keep your ariva 120 for viewing while recording on humax or saorview.

ooops I didn't mean to say usb stick, I meant records to an external hard drive connected via usb port.

Great tip there to keep the ariva 120 as you say, never crossed my mind:D

    cheers.
