Advice re connection time (Dubai)

    Hello

I'm travelling to Auckland via Dubai. It's a 75 minute connection time which seems to be the minimum allowed by Emirates. The 22.25 flight out of Dublin seems to be punctual in the main, but has anyone any experience of tight connection times in Dubai?

The alternative is to take the earlier flight out of Dublin which would result in a 10 hour layover which would be a bit of a pain.

Did it in an hour last time thru Dubai

I've made it through in 40 minutes and 55 minutes when my flights landed late. 75 should be fine and the evening flight out of Dublin is nearly always on time. Worst case scenario they'll put you in a hotel room and put you on the next flight to Auckland.

Sincere thanks. As a form of insurance, I'm travelling on Wednesday night (arriving Friday morning) when in fact I could travel on Thursday night (I don't need to be in Auckland until the Saturday).

I've also reviewed the punctuality of both the Dublin/Dubai and Dubai/Auckland flights. The Dublin flight seems to be on time generally and the Auckland flight seems to depart late typically.

From reviews I've seen, Emirates sometimes wait for passengers they know to be connecting (e.g. 6/7 from the Dublin flight) as delaying is less hassle than feeding/housing them.

I think I'll leave things as is (touch wood).

75 mins is loads, have done it loads of times in less time.
They wouldn't offer that connection if not possible.
Small bit of advice, when you land go find your next gate straight away in case you have to get the train to change terminals as they can take 15mins, once that's done you'll know how much time you can now spend wandering around from a fixed location.
You'll have to go through security in arrival even for transfers so get all that out of way before going walkabout.
As your onward flight is with emirates they will often hold a flight for delayed emirates passengers from other flights.
Dubai airport is very big but in a way it makes it easier as there are blocks of restaurants/toilets/shops etc all through as opposed to a central location.

Thank you. I'm treating myself to Business (777 and then A380) so I understand that they'll let us off the 777 first and give us priority passes for security. That should also make things easier. I also think the fact that the 777 flies out of Dublin at 22.25 (when it's quiet) helps it to depart on time more often than not.

You'll have even less issue flying business. You'll be first off and, if you're lucky, the A380 will have its own separate level for boarding business and first class. Don't bank on the priority pass for security. The priority lanes weren't open the last few times I went through.

Thanks. It sounds like the 75 minute connection time should be enough, even with (say) a 30 minute delay.

    - First off the plane
    - Probably with a Fast Pass for security
    - All within Terminal 3 and possible both within the "A" concourse
