Immersion - plumber or electrician?

Oh, man. Flat owner at her wits' end here... I've had loads of problems with the immersion - element replaced in January, electrical panel replaced during the summer, water not heating up properly during the timed periods at night. Then this morning, when I put on the booster ahead of my shower, it tripped the 'plugs' circuit in my flat. It's true we have hard water around here but my question is who do I ring? A plumber or an electrician.

I posted this in the DIY section after finding an old thread about immersion heaters but to be honest, I've zero DIY chops so that's not a route I can go down.

An electrician all the way !

It could be the immersion element, the cable rated too low/small or the fuse at the panel.
    All,one or combination of above.

If you are not good at DIY,please do stay away as is a high risk of getting hurt or creatin bigger problems!

If it's to change the wiring then electrican. If it's to unscrew the immersion and replace then get a plumber although some electricians will do this too but not many

I would have thought that the immersion would have a 12 months warranty? So maybe get whoever changed it in January.
Some electricians do immersions and some plumbers hate doing them. Problem is that a plumber might quote 130 / 150 to supply and fit an immersion. The copper is soft around the collar and you can get pin holes in the cylinder by changing the element. Not the plumber fault. But lots of plumbers don't like telling the homeowner that the 130 job is now going to be a 400 job cos cylinder needs replacing too.
I'd be looking for a plumber with electric knowledge. Possibly someone that works on gas boilers. They would know how to test the switch and element with a multi meter. Regular plumber will change elements and it might be a faulty switch.
