Guys. Any idea is there much mileage after the breakpad change warning lamp comes on. Tdi Tiguan.
Text mechanic and he can get me in on 5th jam but I have a few jaunts to get done. My back is wrecked so I'm unable to get down and do it myself anymore. :(

How long is a piece of string ?

Depending on your driving style you could get up to 3 thousands miles after the break pad warning comes on, the warning wire is set at a generous level on VAG cars.

It''s certainly not a case of get them changed immediately.

    Thanks.
Not to far to go anywhere but still some want to grind off the disc for the want of pads changed.

Time was I could swap out a set easily myself but not any more. Have wind in tool for calipers and all.

The pad warning only applies to the front pads (you probably know that anyway)

Is there no rear sensor on VWs? Weird! Also, I'm reading a lot lately that manufacturers are recommending a change of brake discs with each pad change now.

    Didn't know that at all.

You'll have several 100 miles at least, if not 1000 I'd say. Presumably you have alloys? Easy enough to see what's left on the outer pad anyway.
