has new tv not got a freeview tuner?? and does triax box have a hdmi out socket? if you quoted exact model of triax box I could look it up, and same for tv,could then check if it had a tuner!!

It's a Triax box TSC 114, it has 1 HDMI output which i have connected to the TV but there is also a scart output which obv remains unconnected. TV is an LG32LH604V. I wouldnt have clue what to do even if i knew it had a Freeview tuner :o

If you have HDMI connected then you shouldn't need SCART too?

You just need to select the hdmi input on your TV and it should work.
Maybe the scart was connected to a VCR or something?

That is some TV, had a look at LG website, and boy it has LOTS of functions. The user guide is actually in the TV! but they do provide a few videos as well. It does have a DVB T2 tuner so will pick up saorview and it looks as if it has a satellite tuner as well so will pick up freesat. I dont know your location but if near border you may get Freeview HD UK and saorview and freesat. You will have fun getting used to it.

enjoy and glad you are sorted.

I just put tv model into google.

here's a link, scroll down for videos

If you're not too attached to the channel list layout etc. of the Triax, the only reason to keep it with that TV is if you record programmes, & want the extra tuners to have a full selection of channels available to view while you're recording. The TV itself is capable of recording/timeshifting.

The TV can tune all the same channels as the Triax box, but despite having a satellite tuner, it's not actually a Freesat TV, so the programme guide for UK channels will be no better than the Triax.
