Looking to get into a new petrol car in the first quarter of 2017, and I'd all but made up mind on the 1.0 tsi automatic Octavia facelift, Style trim. However, it was more of a head decision than heart, and my head has been turned by the incoming 3008 SUV which looks far more interesting. Thinking the 1.2 tsi automatic, active trim. Hard I know to make a call on two unreleased cars, but curious for some opinions..Thanks folks.

The facelift Octavia is terrible looking. Had a spin in a new 3008 lately and it's really nice. The interior is infinitely nicer than the Octavias.

Have to agree Skoda have ruined the Octavia with the revamp copying What a look that even Mercedes could not make look good.
The Peugeot 3008 is the much better looking car and the interior looks really good. Should be reliable too Peugeots have improved loads over the last decade or so.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

The new Octavia will probably do fine but style models lose more value and equity than ambition so are generally avoided unless your buying outright. I like both but boot on Octavia is huge.

I've ordered a 3008 Allure 1.6L diesel auto with full leather heated seats. I was initially thinking petrol but I do enough long journeys to justify a diesel. Most of the competing SUVs look like Qashqai clones especially from the rear whereas the 3008 is what you would imagine a 2017 car should look like.

Definitely has cup holders - I haven't counted them though. The two front ones are even illuminated!

Did you test drive the Octavia 1.0tsi? How did you find the engine? Thanks

I did indeed try the 1.0tsi - very pleasantly surprised, certainly didn't feel underpowered considering its size.

From what I can understand, new Octavia model pricing due to land early Feb, awaiting to see what happens there before making final decision...some initial info has landed on skoda.ie

PS just to complicate things, now have my eye also on the 127bhp TSI Honda Civic coming in March too!

I'll pop in to Monaghan's tomorrow. Hopefully they have one with dsg to test drive.

Wondering if the 0%pcp going to be same for facelift version.

I actually like the facelift more than the current one. Looks more grown up.

Pricing and specs for the 2017 Octavia now up on skoda.ie - looking broadly inline with expectations, though the Ambition spec looks to have been given a bump up over previous model... http://www.skoda.ie/brochures/Documents/New%20Octavia_%20February%202017.pdf
