Anyone able to get decent speeds in mulligar, near the town,at least 30 megs ? Thinking if buying a gaff out that way ,would like to factor broadband availability into the decision and don't completely trust what Vodafone or any of them will say to me on the phone!

    Can anyone get virgin?

If you know the telephone number associated with the property your thinking of buying get it and input that telephone number into Eir's fibre checker, should give you some sort of indictation if your able to get fiber and what sort of speed. In this day and age if there is no decent fibre available at the house then I wouldn't bother and look elsewhere.

Cheers. The only problem is it's hard to get the number of a property without some adverse hassle. And the agent might not know it,or one might not exist yet,in my experience.

I wish there was an easier way.

It doesn't seem to be an issue for estate agents which I find mad. Surely decent broadband v crap broadband is a really important factor in 2017?

    My tuppence.

Most people only consider it after moving in, then whine about it. EAs haven't copped to use it as a selling point really.

There's a long list of things that estate agents and people ignore before buying/renting a home. It's up to the people looking to make the demands, until that happens estate agents just don't care and why should they?

Not blaming them, just saying its a marketing opportunity a savy one could utilize.

No sympathy for Joe Bloggs who moves to a house 5 miles from Muff and can only get dial up.

Would very much depend on what direction! Considering Quigley's Point is wired up for fibre ;)

Presume you've asked the EA what kind of broadband the house has now, and it doesn't have any ..... ?

Have you checked the map at http://fibrerollout.ie/where-and-when/ ?

That is saying 1,000Mbit FTTH to be available early/mid 2017, and you would then just need to check the gaff is on one of the blue lines.
