Do VRT rates drop in the New Year

Does the value of cars drop on January 1st resulting in reduced VRT rate or does it happen later in the year. IE is there anything to gain by waiting till the new year as opposed to VRTing a car now before new year?

No idea, unlikely to be more than 1-2% either side, the fluctuating currency would be the main concern about waiting.

I'm just after reading the Revenue document on VRT valuations and they have a calculator/algorithm for determining value so technically the car drops down into the next years depreciation table and the VRT rate should drop accordingly. This should happen on the 1st January. I guess I'll just wait and see if it works out that way in reality.
