    Hi

I am currently renting out my property and a tenant rty they just moved in last month. she asked me to fill in a form as she needs to change her address with social protection as her hours have been reduced in work and needs to get for sent out.

My question is if it is just a declaration of residence why did the form require my PPS number how much rent she is paying, PRTB number etc?

    Any advice would be great

Maybe it's a rent allowance form. I've never heard of sw asking did a landlord to fill in anything for a change of address other than for ra.
Does it ask questions like number of bedrooms and your tax details too?

Here's a link to the rent allowance page where you can download the form and check if it's the same -

No it didn't ask how many bedrooms and it wasn't a standard rent allowance form.. It asked how much rent they paid, any other occupants, PPS number and my phone and address It said declaration of residence on the side of the fprm

Oh well then it's just what they need I presume. If you're concerned call the office before you send it.

I already filled it in for her and gave it to her... I probably shouldn't have done that?

A declaration of address shouldn't ask for those details. All you should have to do is state who you are in relation to the tenant, state where they are residing and sign it. That along with a utility bill in your name for the rented property should be sufficient for proof of address.

The tenant could change the address without your involvement if they had a utility bill for the rented property in their own name.

I wouldn't be giving out my PPSN to just anyone and I'd be surprised if the department of social protection were asking you to give this information to your tenant as it's possibly a data protection breach.

    That's odd.
I assume the DSP are demanding this and the information is then shared with other agencies such as Revenue, RTB.
