Turkey and ham timing - help!

    Hi there,

I'm doing a huge turkey and ham for Christmas day and can't wait!!

Problem is my turkey will take up the entire oven and I want to honey bake the ham too (which is going to take about 5 hours). Any clever ideas on how I can do this with only 1 oven so that we all end up eating hot food?!

    Cheers!

I bake my ham on Christmas Eve. It would be impossible to bake that and a turkey on the day without starting in the wee hours. We have our ham cold, but if you prefer it to be hot it heats really well in the microwave - or you could layer the slices in a big dish, cover it well with foil and pop it into the oven with the roast potatoes while the turkey is resting.
It's such a big task cooking Christmas dinner, you've got to take the odd shortcut.

Christmas ham is much nicer cold imo.

    Or heat as suggested.

I always stick (my precooked on Christmas Eve) slices on ham on a plate, cover with foil and put them sitting on top of the saucepan of veg as they boil/cook.

Boil your ham the day before. Cook your turkey Christmas day, when cooked take it out cover it in tin foil and a few clean tea towels. Pop your ham in the oven to glaze. Turkey will still be hot in the time it takes to glaze the ham!
