Grant of probate.

How long, typically, does the process leading to the granting of probate take to conclude in Ireland? I am referring to a standard case where the deceased has died leaving a will, nominated an executor and the application is made by a solicitor.
    Thank you.

Depends on which part of the country you're in or at least where the application is made. It's supposed to be done outside Dublin by the local Circuit Court office but due to staff shortages caused by hiring freezes, some of the country offices are offloading new applications for probate to the Probate Office in Smithfield so there are long delays everywhere. Your best bet is to ask the solicitor doing the probate for an estimate based on any recent probate he or she has done.

Munster region. The solicitor involved reckons around twelve months which seems an inordinate length of time. I'm unsure if it's to be dealt with at local Circuit Court level or in Dublin.

There are several Circuit Court offices in Munster. Why do you think you'll get a more accurate answer to your question here when (1) your solicitor knows which office is dealing with it and (2) how long that office is presently taking to process grants of probate?
