Ryanair vouchers

    Hi..

The T&Cs for Ryanair vouchers say they can only be redeemable by the named person and their name has to be first on the booking.

Does this mean that if I buy one with my Dads name he can book tickets for himself and my mum as long as his name is first or would it only cover the cost of his flight and he has to pay for hers fully?

    Thanks in advance

He can pay for both using the voucher, but his name has to be first (hence them saying first and not only).

Just give him the cash to book the flights.

Restrictive T&C's imposed on vouchers make them an unattractive proposition.

When Ryanair started selling gift vouchers, you had to call a premium rate phone line to book a flight using them. There were stories here that people spent more on the phone call than the vouchers were worth!

The terms and conditions Yamanoto refers to above (previous post) might include.....

    1. €2 'administration fee' just to use the vouchers.

    2. Expiration date of 12 months and this cannot be extended. If you only partially use the value when booking a flight, they will give you a new voucher for the balance and this voucher will have the same expiration date as the original voucher.

    3. Name on the voucher must match the name on the recipient's passport because the vouchers can only be used to buy flights with the recipient's name exactly as it appears on their passport. A booking made using vouchers can involve multiple people but the recipient must be the lead traveller i.e. the first name on the booking. And no name changes are permitted.

Cash with a nice card would be the better option.

Just give him cash in a card with a note saying "Use this money to buy Ryanair flights", 100% no issues whatsoever with terms and conditions in the future.

    Thanks everyone..

Maybe I'll rethink. Am not in the country right now so thought I could send vouchers rather than cash.

    Thanks again

Having used both Ryanair and Aer Lingus vouchers, I remember Ryanair's ones as a pleasure to use in comparison. The best thing was I could use 'change' left on the voucher another time.

However, to avoid even not very restrictive conditions, the cash in a card is the easier option.

Does anybody know if I can book flights now with a voucher for travel at a date after the voucher has expired? Cannot seem to find answer on their FAQ

from the look of it you just have to have it spent by a certain date, but it seems irrelevant then what travel date you choose

I went with cash in the end last year.. but had some given to me and it was a bit of a pain as the currency didn’t match where I was living so had to book two single flights so I could use them on my return flight.

Also, I could not redeem using the app. I had googled how to redeem and the page just said when you go to pay there is an option to redeem them. I had no such option so had booked flights separately and still didn’t get to use them.

On the plus side when I wrote an email about this they applied the vouchers and refunded the value so their customer service was great in this case
