Hi all recently got sky q (last week) and was told that it was compatible with powerline.

In the bottom room I've the broadband running into the sky q hub. I just connected the tp link AV600 into the plug socket and the ethernet cable into the sky q hub. Walked up to the attic/office conversion plugged in the other tp link and connected it to the PC via ethernet.

Have 3 green lights but the speed is 1 Meg when I was getting 30 megs wireless.

Need wired in order for gaming.

Is there any additional settings I'm missing?

Install the TP link utility on your PC. It'll tell you what the link rate and thus signal quality is like.

Try not to use the TP Link on extension leads if you can - they sometimes don't like them

Hi thank you. Both links are going straight into the socket.

I've been reading up and it looks like powerline is natively configured within the SKY Q hub, Silver and Mini Box which is interesting. If I turn it on do I still need the AV600's to link into it or would the Mini then act as a router if I put an Ethernet cable from that into the PC.

Again, all im really trying to do here is get a wired connection in the attic room for the purposes of gaming.

I'm sorry for wrecking all your heads with silly questions, networking is not my strong point.

    Read here:

Seems sky may have deployed EoP but not stuck to the PL standards. That means TPs will degrade Sky and Sky will degrade TPs. Idiots.

Saying that its connecting at 86mps

Still getting less than 1 meg on speed test. Have enabled ethernet on the sky router as advised by sky.

Will reboot router and see what happens

Update. Enabled ethernet on the router -gigabit ethernet and nothing. Didn't swap to fast ethernet but I doubt it will make a difference.

Anyway reset router and I'm getting about 30/50 Meg wireless.

I'll just leave it as is. Thanks for all the help

Thats shíte, just so you know. Its the link rate, not the throughput.

Mine are linked at 710Mb but really that means 110-140Mb. 85 is a whisper.

What sort of speeds do you get around the rest of the house using the TP adapter? Is your attice conversion on a different circuit? Do you have either adapter going through a surge protector?

This is interesting - real world stats on how these perform.
