Floating Shelf. 9x3 (2 feet length)

Hi

Im considering making floating shelves (walnut in colour). I will have to stain timber and use something like in link to hang

These shelves will be going into block wall and also a chimney. Main reason is new stove and want to hang tv above it so i need shelf to deflect heat.

Im wondering will it be prone to warping and would timber be too heavy. I dont like any of the flat pack ones and i want the shelf on chimneyto run the width of chimney so have to make to size

Any advice would be good.

Depends how far away the shelf is, but it will warp unless it is very far away.

Don't think it would give much protection to the TV either.

inset stove or is it sitting out on the hearth ?

8kw inset stove. i was going to put shelf bout 400-450mm above to give clearance but the shelf will still get hot. im awear of that
