    Hi All,

I upgraded from win 7 to win 8 some time ago, it went very well in that only two things were broken afterwards. the FN keys and the wifi indicator LED.

The program that controlled the FN keys was called Easy Settings by Samsung but is not compatible with Win 8 or 10, but I was able to located a newer version called Samsung Settings and this fixed the FN keys.

But I still have the wifi LED issue, I cant figure out how this light was controlled so I'm unsure how to fix it.... any ideas folks?

    Brand: Samsung
    Model: NP305E5A-A03UK

    Best regards,
    Gary

    Could be drivers.

    Head to here http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/NP305E5A-A03UK

Scroll down and click on SW Update and let that run.

Thanks, I tried that earlier.. installed all compatible drivers & firmware but no luck I'm afraid.

Worth noting I've since upgraded to win 10 and everything is still compatible and working except that damn LED.

IF The led does not work does it really matter,
you can see the wifi icon in the system tray ,
i don,t have windows 10, i presume it has a wifi icon like windows 7 .which shows if wifi is on or off .
there may be no way to fix the led function unless you switch to a linux os, or go back to
    windows 7.
Theres many older laptops who have no full driver support in windows 10.
eg the webcam may not work .
i see nothing that windows 10 does that windows 7 cannot do unless
you want to run certain vr apps or use the windows app store .
No one ever said every chipset and device from windows 7 pc,s and laptops would work
    on windows 10 .
I Might get windows 10 in 3 years if i happen to buy a new laptop
which has windows 10 installed on it.

    It's almost definitely driver issues.

Seems there's a few other examples of the same issue out there, I've loaded the OEM disk so I'm running win 7 again, and installed all drivers from the Samsung site but still no wifi light.

I'll need to find a way of testing the light isn't faulty me thinks.

i using dual core laptop cpu intel 2.oghz windows 7.
It has no laptop led , i just look at the wifi icon in the system tray .
it just has one power led , and a led on the dvd drive to indicate disc acess
.i see no big deal about the wifi led as long as you can use the wifi and
choose the network to connect to.
My f2 key has a wifu icon ,
i press f2 to to switch on and off the wifi .
The system tray wifi icon goes red if wifi is switched off.The
wifi icon in the tray show 5 bars white to indicate signal is strong and wifi is connected .

You could download a linux iso ,
burn it to a dvdr disc .load from dvd, it,ll load into ram ,
    loads up os.
see does wifi work, does led work.
get 32bit version..no need to install it ,it runs in live cd mode.
    do not click install shortcut.
    maybe click test ,try it.
live cd does not touch your hardrive.

i see no big deal in a led not working as you can still see the wifi on off icon
    in windows system tray.
http://www.pclinuxos.com/get-pclinuxos/kde/ all kind of drivers/applications to deal with any kind of external hardware like cell-phones, scanner, printer, webcam, TV, Bluetooth, IPod, radio, etc.

The KDE iso provides a standard KDE desktop with many popular applications and out-of-the-box DRIVER support for generic desktop computing.
EG IT Should detect the samsung wifi chip and led

Have you tried searching for Samsung easy display manager - think that controls the Fn keys and LEDs.

Alternatively, if you want to test the LED itself you'll have to dismantle the laptop. Get hold of a multimeter and set it to the continuity test and probe across the the LED. If it is working, the LED "should" light.

TRY pressing fn and function keys 1-12 ,does led come on.
try running the linux live cd in my previous post ,does the led come on,when wfi is being used.
linux live cds , press f12 on boot choose boot from dvd/cd

    Cheers guys

Will probably try the linux route first as it's a lot handier than taking it apart all for the sake of an led.

Tried the easy settings & display manager stuff a few days ago but no luck.

Unless You are an it tech pro technician opening a laptop will have a risk of causing damage.
Not worth it to see if a led is connected ,when the laptop works perfect.
    And the wifi works anyway.
