So this is a weird one: it's a complete re-tool from the original concept & first trailer, which isn't a great sign IMO: it was meant to be a sitcom about an Insurance Company specialising in superhero-related damage, with its workers fighting the good fight against Alan Tudyk's petty boss. Supposedly there wasn't meant to be any direct relationship with the A-list DC crowd.

Deep within the bowels of YouTube you can find the original format's trailer:

Nothing special, but some funny enough lines & IIRC there was going to be a running gag where a co-worker was suspected to himself be a superhero. Now the whole thing has morphed into a 'Better off Ted' kinda show featuring super-science, with Tudyk changed to ... 'Van Wayne'. Yes. He's related. And going by the new trailer, the refit looks pretty ropey

    Yikes, that's a pretty drastic change-up...

The pilot is getting decent reviews from the critics who have seen it.

Eh, if this show didn't have Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi and Ron Funches in it, I would've given up on it in the first five minutes.

The pilot was far from good (some parts were just plain painful), but given the strong cast, I'll watch the second episode before giving up all hope - it really needs to be a huge improvement on what I just watched though.

That was woeful and painful to watch.

Awful. Felt so sorry for the cast involved, shameful stuff.

I'd heard the original pilot was much better and from watching the opening of it, they changed Vanessa's character from someone who complained about heroes and stood up to them to one who likes them.
I guess they must've figured insurance companies are hard to write comedy about.
After hearing so much negativity about it, I went quickly through it and thought it was a Better off Ted ripoff

Gave it a second episode and I'm out it's terrible terrible terrible you would feel for the cast having to be part of this.

As bad as the second episode was, it was a vast improvement on the pilot. If it continues at this rate of improvement, by episode 5 or 6 this could almost be an enjoyable show.

That said, I'm not willing to stick with it that long to find out. If I hear through the grapevine that it gets better down the road, I may return to it, but otherwise, no loss.

It is very light but that was an enjoyable episode, I don't know how much they can get out of the premise though

Adam West to guest star in an upcoming episode.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, reports are that Powerless has been pulled from the schedules. Not an official cancellation, but as good as.

Pity, I quite liked it. A bit of fluff sure but a good counter to constant angst in DC:TV-verse

I think the CW range of shows has the 'fluff' angle covered myself, and even the pasing comedy in them is better than the really obvious guff Powerless was selling. Sounds as if the ratings weren't ever great, so you're possibly the only one who did enjoy it ;)

That's a nice, warm nod in honour of West, but lordy I'd forgotten how bad that show was. What a wasted opportunity.
