2016 claimed another outstanding rock star of the seventies, Greg Lake aged 69, his former bandmate Keith died on March this year too. RIP legend.

    RIP Greg Lake.

Another great gone.:( And his former band mate Keith Emerson passed away earlier this year too. Emerson, Lake and Palmer were an incredible band for their time. In the early 1970s they pioneered synthesizer harmonics in their music.

FFS. Sh!t like this annoys me.

Hard to believe that either of you thought the thread would actually be the better for these posts, rather than just leaving the thread for people who want to post about Greg Lake.

Post away but this recurring nonsense that 2016 is claiming lives is wearing thin. We live in an era of celebrity covering many aspects of life the arts and culture and the icons of the era are reaching a certain age when death becomes more common. Lament the death a personal hero, or a legend of your childhood, but spare us the clichés about 2016.

Personally, I really enjoyed Emerson Lake and Palmer in the 70s and found their style of music original and refreshing at the time.

Tbh complaining about people saying 2016 is just as bad.

Some people go overboard with the 2016 thing - e.g. Andrew Sachs. He was well into his 80s, nothing unusual there, and as if people knew a thing about him apart from Manuel nearly 40 years ago and then the Russell Brand/Jonathan Ross thing decades later.

But it's not true to say 2016 was just like any other year in terms of highly innovative people dying relatively early in life. We all know full well there was an unusual number of deaths in that regard.

Absolutely love that Greg Lake Christmas song.

As ever here, the judgment is far more tedious and annoying than the original, harmless semantic crime.

It doesn't get much more obscure than little known beat combo ELP.
