Hi all. I got the most beautiful art deco original 20's diamond ring from an antique shop off grafton St. Only thing is, is that I have heard mentioned some sort of certificate you get with diamond rings and wondered is that just with new or is it supposed to be issued with antique as well?

Leaving the country next week and will be in Dublin at the weekend so would like to know before I leave.
I love my ring but obviously want to have it appropriately insured so hoping the receipt will be enough. Fwiw I have no idea how much my fiancé paid for the ring so would like to avoid that situation of finding out.
    Ta.

We used Carol Clarke for our valuations. If you have no Cert then it's a calculation based on trigonometry. She is based on Dawson Street.

    Hi,

I had mine done at irish valuations on baggot street. Very good service and he does it right there in front of you in about half an hour.

+1 irish valuations. You will require a valuation for insurance, the receipt won't suffice.

    She's actually in Hibernian way.
You'll need to call her to make an appointment.
We got a ring valued with her earlier this year.

Yeah that's it, just off Dawson Street, I think you can actually go in from some of the rear streets as well.
We've used her 3 times. Never made an appointment.

She comes highly recommended so we just dropped in and left the rings with her each time for an hour, called back and had the valuation in the next few days posted out to us.

It probably sped up the process that we had GUI certs for them but because we bought outside of Ireland we needed local valuation for home insurance.
