Hi, looking at possibly getting a 142 or 151 IS300h. Anybody any comments/ faults etc? I've never owned a hybrid before so not sure what the story is: does the battery last forever?
I currently have a 10 A4 Avant which I'll be looking to offload if anyone's interested...

I don't think there is anything to worry around reliability of hybrids.

Can you actually drive that in electric mode or does it simply cut in unnoticed when under the least load.
What is point if you can't drive 60 miles free of fuel.

My understanding is that it cuts in unnoticed. I also think the brakes are regenerative braking so it charges using that energy to charge the battery. All in all this reduces the CO2 emissions

Here's my one that I bought last Thursday.
Yes u don't even notice the engine cutting in and out when you are driving.
It is slightly noticeable when you are stopped.
It just cuts in when it needs to.
If you want all the bells and whistles go for the f sport. It even has the LFA supercar Speedo.
If you want comfort go for the premium version or the newer sport(there is a difference between a sport and an f sport).
All I can say is do it!
It's a beautiful car and a really stress free place to be behind the wheel.
I was stuck in a traffic jam at the weekend and was happy as a pig in sh*t.
Realistically around 40 miles to the gallon is the norm and 45 for long journeys.
You can bring up the stats on the screen and even how much battery or engine is being used.

The only negatives I heard before buying were people that test drove them were on about the lag in the gearbox.
There is but for every day use it really isn't that important and the smoothness of the box far outweighs the lag.
It really is silky smooth compared to, let's say a dsg which I also use sometimes for work.
Here's a little vid of the Speedo before u put one foot in the grave!!:pac:

Test drove a 151 F-Sport yesterday. Absolutely lovely car. You still happy with your purchase Blade1?

    Oh yeah.
    Gets loads of admirers too.
Every day since I have it, a few people come up to me asking about it.
Brought my mother to the doctor the other day and even he came out looking at it:pac:
