Bitten by a false widow I suspect

Saturday I was bitten by what I suspect to been a false widow. But I was outside warming up before a rugby match so it was in a field. I know they are more found in sheds and around cars ( that's where I've found them before). Anyway I brushed it off thinking it was nothing despite seeing the spider. It was brown like a false widow. I killed it and went on to play. Woke up Sunday and my thigh was swollen and around the bite mark was really red and very hot. Anyway I could hardly walk on my leg. So I put ice on the swelling and antiseptic cream around the bite. Then yesterday the bite mark had turned black. Swelling is gone down and now it's just very itchy. Do you think it was a false widow or something else?

Wow sounds nasty enough! Being out in a field i wouldn't think it was a widow but it could have been in your clothes prior to going out on the field. Theres plenty of spiders in ireland that can bite but its rare and seldom needs medical treatment.
