As far as i know its a cr common rail engine. A different engine. The a4s got the engine in 2008 with the b8 model
BTW the 2005 golf was a good engine. It didn't have the oil pump issues

The 2.0 CR TDI lump is considered reliable and I believe that's what is fitted to that golf.

2.0 litre CR TDi engine was launched in mid 2008 and replaced the older 2.0 PD TDi that some variants gave problems. The newer 2.0 litre CR TDi is more refined and reliable but EGR valves can give problems on early versions.

The 2.0 in the mk6 is a lot better than the 1.6

The 2.0 TDI in the Mk6 is fine, although the least powerful versions have just 109 bhp, so they won't be going anywhere terribly quickly.

It's in the Mk5 where they can cause problems, as the Mk5s are all PD units.

All diesel Golfs from the Mk6 onwards are common rail units, and reliable for a modern diesel.

I have a Passat 2.0 CR 131 reg. I have put 175k ish kms on it and the engine is very good with no problems. I did have to replace the EGR though.
