    Hi there

Has anyone had to be referred to a gastroenterologist in mater private?
My doc wants me to have an endoscope. I am in the mater private to meet gastro tomorrow but do they do the scope the same day? or do they have to wait? i dont want to do it but i would rather get it out of the way. it has me worried.

I was referred to Mater Private directly for an OGD (stomach scope) by my GP. I got an appointment for the OGD a week later. I didn't see the consultant beforehand.

It would be possible to see the consultant and be scoped the same day, but that would be unusual - they would have to have a slot free and you would have to be fasting and if you are for colonoscopy you would have to have taken the laxative drinks the night before.

I had my OGD without sedation and it was grand. Definitely better to get it over with rather than worrying.
